SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH
The old saying “happy wife, happy life” isn’t just a cliché, it turns out. In fact, new research says that when your spouse is in a positive emotional state, it could actually be good for YOUR health. University of California, Davis researchers found that when your partner experiences positive emotions, it can lower your cortisol levels, the primary stress hormone, regardless of how you yourself are feeling. In simple terms, the study of 321 couples in long-term relationships found that your partner’s good mood might be doing your body good, even if you’re not sharing their happiness. The association between a partner’s positive emotions and lower stress hormones was most pronounced for people who reported higher relationship satisfaction.

“Landman”
is about to welcome a seasoned cowboy. Sam Elliott will reunite with
the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, after working on the
“Yellowstone” spin-off “1883”. Elliott is reportedly joining
the cast for the show’s second season. Puck reports that Elliott
has been cast in a main role, but details about his character remain
under wraps. Jon Hamm’s character, oil tycoon ‘Monty Miller’
met a dramatic end in the season 1 finale, and word is that Elliott
and Demi Moore, who plays Miller’s wife, will help fill the void
left by Hamm’s departure.
Netflix
has ordered “The Golden Ticket”, an upcoming competition series
inspired by Roald Dahl’s novel “Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory” and the universe of ‘Willy Wonka’. In the game show,
as you might expect, only contestants who find a golden ticket will
gain entry to Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. But that doesn’t
guarantee anything. According to the logline, “Only those who can
adapt, strategize and withstand the unknown will make it through.”
The show will be set “inside a retro-futuristic dreamscape”, and
will challenge players “as they navigate games, tests and
temptations designed to probe their instincts, resilience and ability
to thrive in chaos.” Casting is now underway. LINK:

Disney’s “Snow White” is the fairest of them all at the box office. The musical, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, earned a projected $45 million domestically over the weekend. While that’s a lot less than Disney was hoping for, it’s still the second-biggest debut of the year behind Disney’s “Captain America: Brave New World.” Meanwhile, the mafia drama “The Alto Knights,” starring Robert De Niro playing identical (but unrelated) gang leaders in New York, kicked off with a meagre projected $3 million opening weekend.
DID YA KNOW!?
Did you know goosebumps are caused by a muscle? At the base of every hair follicle are tiny fan-shaped muscles called Arrector pili. These muscles contract when the body is cold in an effort to warm the body up and cause a person's hair to "stand up straight" on their skin aka goosebumps.

OF THE DAY
A man with a turtle hidden in his pants was arrested by police after he tried boarding a plane.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or unmotivated, you might feel it’s perfectly logical to spend the whole day in your pajamas. But experts are saying what you probably knew – consciously or unconsciously: What you wear can affect how you feel. And with that in mind, the best thing you can do might be to put on a pair of sneakers. Dr. Barbara Greenberg, a clinical psychologist in Connecticut, points out that there is actual research on the relationship between getting dressed and becoming more motivated, showing “When you get dressed, you feel more confident, and because you feel more confident, you become more motivated.” According to her, when you get dressed, “you’re actually, literally stepping into a new role or a new version of yourself.” While sweatpants and slippers give your brain the cue to relax, a well-fitting suit may indicate that it’s time to get down to business. This behavioral effect is why some schools have students wear uniforms – to influences a person’s focus and preparation for learning. But it doesn’t have to be business-wear to influence your productivity. A comfortable pair of yoga pants might help keep you going for a long day. Or a sentimental sweater could provide comfort. A favorite top can boost your confidence. And those sneakers? They could be the first step to getting outside and going for a walk, a run – or heaven forbid, a trip to the gym, which, as hard as it is to do sometimes, you’ll never regret it.

WEIRD NEWS
Hasbro has announced a new version of the Monopoly game, that goes full 2020s: The new version, named “Monopoly App Banking”, replaces the role of the banker and paper money with a mobile app that keeps track of every player’s money and properties. While the new Monopoly, available this August, may speed up the notoriously slow gameplay, and require you to do less math, it also means more screen time during board games — and makes it much harder to cheat.
