Rap fans would rather hear songs that contain positive messages, but record labels don’t tend to sign the artists that make that type of songs. In 2022, researchers at UCLA conducted a study to determine if there was a difference in preferred lyrical content between the 2 groups. The Facebook users they examined were more attracted to tunes with “pro-social” lyrics — ones that endorsed positive actions, such as gratefulness, engaging in spiritual practices, valuing education, and supporting community building — over less positive songs. But labels were found to focus more on signing artists whose songs demonstrated more “antisocial” rhymes — like espousing aggressiveness, criminal activity, misogyny, and illicit drug use.

Did
you know Viking men wore makeup? It’s no doubt that Vikings were
some of the toughest men in history books. However, they cared about
their appearance enough that makeup was a part of their everyday

Ellen DeGeneres has reportedly clashed with her British neighbors in the Cotswolds over an extension at her multimillion-dollar home. The former talk show host moved to England with her wife, Portia de Rossi, in November. They purchased a stunning farmhouse in an upscale area for $18 million — $3 million over the asking price. But reports say that the couple have faced some blowback after wanting to put in an extension in their home, with locals claiming that the move increases flood risk. Others say it will likely disturb the nearby Roman ruins.

Fox is planning to launch a new subscription-based streaming service by the end of 2025, company execs revealed yesterday. CEO Lachlan Murdoch said the service will be priced “relatively low” and offer “existing content and existing brands”, including sports, TV shows and news. No launch date was given, but Murdoch said it will be aimed at reaching viewers who do not typically pay for cable and other pay TV services. This news comes after Fox, along with partners Disney and Warner Bros., ditched plans for a sports streamings service named “Venu” last month. The company is also home to the free, ad-supported service “Tubi”.

Have you ever seen that stat that says it takes 21 days to make a new habit? The idea is that if you are beginning a new, healthy behavior – like eating right or working out – it’ll take you 3 weeks of doing that thing regularly before it becomes automatic for you. Well, not so fast – literally. Researchers at the University of South Australia analyzed data from 20 different studies involving over 2,600 people who were trying to taken on various healthy habits. Here’s what they found: forming new healthy habits takes between 59-66 days (median time), not the commonly cited 21 days — and some people need as little as 4 days for behaviors to become automatic – and others need as many as 335 days. It was determined that morning habits become part of one’s routine more successfully than evening ones – and it’s easier to make something a habit if you’ve chosen it for yourself, rather than those assigned by others. Also, they found that flossing one’s teeth was among the easiest healthy habits to become part of one’s regular routine. Exercise? That takes much longer.
