SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH: Brought to you by JaseCaseMedical.com
This’ll definitely make you think things through the next time someone reaches out for a handshake. According to a new study, a handshake reveals some interesting insights into your sex life. Researchers at Washington State University reviewed data from over 4,300 adults, analyzing their grip strength, and survey responses about their (ahem!) love lives. They found that stronger men are more likely to be in long-term relationships – and were found to have more past sexual partners than their peers. Stronger women are also likely to have a longer list of sexual partners, compared to weaker handshaking women. But strength didn’t seem to have any bearing on the length of women’s relationships. The researchers point out that experts have long believed men’s strength to be an evolutionary marker, as men competed against each other for mates – an example of survival of the fittest.

Christopher McQuarrie, the director of “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning”, is teasing the Tom Cruise movie, and it seems that audiences have some thrills to look forward to. In what is reportedly the final film of the franchise starring Cruise, McQuarrie said that a member of a test audience had quite the reaction. Quote: “We had a small screening, and someone said, ‘I was suffocating throughout the entire sequence. I almost had a heart attack.’” He didn’t reveal what action sequence made the audience member feel that way, but the film’s trailer showed Cruise’s ‘Ethan Hunt’ fighting off enemies underwater, off of planes, and many more jaw-dropping scenes. McQuarrie said the comment made him think: “I guess we did something right.”
Pinewood Toronto Studios has announced the naming of one of its soundstages after Norman Jewison, who passed away one year ago at age 97. Jewison shot the classic 1971 film “Fiddler on the Roof” at Pinewood Studios in the UK, but the London-based studio group is honoring the 7-time Oscar nominee in his hometown of Toronto. Jewison’s varied film credits include “The Russians Are Coming”, “The Thomas Crown Affair”, the civil rights era drama “In the Heat of the Night”, “Jesus Christ Superstar”, and “Rollerball.”

Instagram has rolled out a number of features that seem like they – well, let’s just say it’s probably not a coincidence that TikTok faces an uncertain future in the United States. One that was announced over the weekend is the new video creation app called “Edits”, which those who know this stuff say is an awful lot like “CapCut”, an app owned by TikTok’s parent company ByteDance. Insta also plans to increase the maximum length for Reels videos from 90 seconds to 3 minutes. These efforts are looked at as a way to encourage users to spend more time on the platform. Edits will be available March 13. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4u6ryvfa

A UK bus operator has unveiled its list of the possessions that passengers left behind last year – and some, as you might expect — are unexpected! Brighton & Hove Buses, which operates in Sussex, Surrey, and Kent, said that that of the 13,000 forgotten items from 2024, the most common included wallets, keys, glasses and phones. But now, the good stuff: Also somehow forgotten by transit riders were: a canoe, a wardrobe, and even a refrigerator. Want more? Other “surprisingly large” things found aboard the company’s buses were a tent, a microwave, a grass trimmer and an electric oven. Smaller, but still unusual stuff included a set of false teeth, a frying pan, a shoulder massager, a stethoscope, a canvas depicting The Ten Commandments, a box of hairnets, a rude drawing, a purple dumbbell, and an urn containing ashes. 64 people left their passport behind – and 78 forgot their cane.
