You may have heard that playing music before a baby is born is good for their mental development. But now, scientists are saying that it can be good for physical development too – as long as its classical music that you play for them. The American Institute of Physics has published research from a team in Mexico that studied the effect of classical music on a fetal heartbeat. The scientists say they found evidence that classical music can calm the heart rate of unborn babies, which in turn could provide developmental benefits, especially to the nervous system. The researchers say increased development of the nervous system is an indicator of healthier development. They suggest that expectant parent consider “exposing their fetuses to quiet music”, such as classical.

Did
you know your liver's size fluctuates significantly throughout the
day? While studying mice, a team of Swiss researchers found that the
mice’s liver cells swelled and contracted up to 40% while doing
their daily activities. Though research being conducted whether that
happens to that extent in humans, one study from 1986 found a
person’s liver swells about 20 percent between day and
night—presumably related to the fact that the liver is not working
as hard when a person is sleeping.

In 2024, for the first time ever, an equal number of films featuring female protagonists, compared to males, were offered. According to USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative’s latest report, which assesses gender, race/ethnicity and age of leading and co-leading actors for movies, female leads finally hit parity last year. Of the 100 top-grossing films in 2024, 54 featured a girl or woman in a lead or co-lead role. This marks a significant jump from 2023, where only 30 movies featured a female-identified protagonist.
At long last, HBO has dropped a first look at season 3 of “Euphoria”, 3 years after the celebrated teen drama was renewed. Emmy winner Zendaya returns as recovering addict ‘Rue Bennett’, who somberly gazes over her shoulder in a darkened room in the new production photo. Disputing rumors of a cancellation late last year, HBO confirmed that production for season 3 would begin in early 2025 with the same principal cast returning, with the exception of Barbie Ferreira. As for the synopsis, creator Sam Levinson previously described season 3 as a “film noir,” and, through Rue, would “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/9tjdt5nn
Brad Pitt flaunts his tattoo collection, which includes multiple tributes to ex-wife Angelina Jolie, in a shirt-free photo, released as part of a teaser trailer promoting his upcoming Grand Prix movie “F1.” The shot sees Pitt lying on his back with his arm outstretched to the floor. Visible is a tornado on his side as well as a few on his chest and scattered designs down his arm. The date of Jolie’s birthday is inked on his lower abdomen in Khmer, the official language of Cambodia, where son Maddox was born. Pitt also has the initials of his entire family, including an “A” for Angie, on his forearm. On his back is an inked version of one of Jolie’s doodles. The couple was divorced in December after nearly a decade of accusations, custody battles and lawsuits. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2yzzz3z5

A new report says that last year Colorado collected $240 million in marijuana taxes.
So – Tattoos. What exactly does society think of body art? It’s a subject that’s been debated since before your great-grandad got an anchor inked on his forearm while serving in the navy. But a new study gives an idea of what different groups think of tattooed people TODAY. German researchers recruited 487 participants to rate the attractiveness of models with varying degrees of tattoo coverage, from none to extreme full-body designs. And they intentionally avoided those with religious or political messaging in their body art. Their conclusions? Here are the 3 main takeaways…
• Those who had tattoos themselves rated tattooed individuals more favorably than those without body art. And those without tattoos preferred the appearance of those who also were tattoo-free.
• The only significant difference between age groups was in cases of extreme tattoo coverage. Those under 50 rated heavily tattooed individuals as more beautiful than older participants did. This generation gap could reflect changing social norms and greater exposure to tattoos among younger people.
• People bearing tattoos that were drawn by artists with at least 7 years of experience were rated significantly higher than those whose ink was done by non-artists.
