The secret to success in you career may lie in what you do in your spare time. Perdue and University of Georgia researchers found that strategically combining leisure activities with professional development can boost your confidence in the workplace AND your performance (as well as job satisfaction) — without negatively affecting your enjoyment of free time. They say that their tests show that success depends on choosing genuinely enjoyable activities that naturally align with professional growth. These might include listening to podcasts or reading interesting business books. The researchers point out that this approach works best for people who naturally prefer integrating their work and personal life, as opposed to those who like keeping them separate.

Did you know the Eagles' stadium once had a courtroom? Veterans Stadium, where the Philadelphia Eagles once played, had a stadium courtroom and jail to handle the team's notoriously rowdy fans. After accumulating a massive collection of tattoos over the years, Pete Davidson is having almost all of them removed. While promoting his new movie “Dog Man” on the “Today” show Friday, he detailed the incredibly painful process. He told hosts Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin: “It’s pretty terrible, so if anybody out there is watching and thinking about getting a tattoo, make sure you really want to get it.” Wednesday on “Jimmy Fallon”, he said: “I’ve been burning them off. They’re almost gone.” When Fallon asked if the process was painful, Davidson said: “It’s horrible. They have to burn off a layer of your skin and then it has to heal for, like, 6-8 weeks and you can’t get in the sunlight. And then you’ve gotta do it, like, 12 more times.” Davidson said that at one point he had “probably, like, 200″ tattoos. He plans to keep “2 or 3”.

Who let “Dog Man” out? Universal Pictures did, and the DreamWorks Animation caper earned a projected $36 million opening weekend domestically. That’s the biggest opening weekend yet for this still very young year — and the second biggest opening for a January animated title ever, following Kung Fu Panda 3” in 2016, which netted $42 million in its debut. Holding its own in second place, the scary satire “Companion” earned an a projected $9.5 million. Third went to “Mufasa: The Lion King, with $6.6 million.

The reunion is on. A sequel to “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion” is moving ahead at 20th Century Studios, with Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow in negotiations to reprise their starring roles. Tim Federle, who created “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”, will direct the feature film, and plans are to start production in June. The original, released in 1997, featured Sorvino and Kudrow as a pair of unaccomplished 29-year-olds who decide to fabricate successful careers in order to impress their former classmates at their 10th anniversary high school reunion. The fashion, comedy, and music all helped the movie become a cult hit.

The Chinese New Year has begun it is the Year of the Snake.

Science to the rescue, again. Researchers in Italy say that following extensive experimentation, they’ve “cracked” the code on how to boil the perfect egg. So, it turns out that the perfect boiled egg consists of a velvety and creamy yolk with a soft, solid egg white that isn’t too watery. How do you get there? Well, first off, you have to be patient – it’s going to take a grand total of 32 minutes. After boiling 300 eggs, and comparing the methods of hard-boiling, soft-boiling, and the sous vide version that fancy restaurants use, as well as a completely new technique called “periodic cooking”, they found that eggs cooked using the periodic technique had a sweeter and saltier yolk than a soft-boiled egg, and the yolk was about the same as a sous vide egg but with less soft and wet whites. So, what is periodic cooking? It involves switching an egg 8 times each between a pan of boiling water and a bowl of cold water. After 32 minutes, the egg is cooled under running water and peeled. The scientists say this method resulted in the egg white being heated to an optimal temperature of 85°C (185F), with the yolk at an almost perfect temperature of 65°C (149F).

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

A Connecticut senator is trying to force movie theaters to reveal exactly what time movies begin, in an effort at helping people reduce the number of trailers and ads they have to sit through. Martin Looney has put forth a bill that would “require that each movie advertisement or listing include, and separately list, the scheduled start time for (1) the movie trailers and advertisements that precede the…movie, and (2) the advertised or listed movie.” This would, of course, give the movie-going public the option of not showing up at the theater until the time the actual movie begins, particularly at cinemas offering advanced reserved seating.
