With many attempting to “get serious” about their fitness at this time of year, you might be surprised at the results of a recent investigation into the average gym-goer’s fitness routine. A survey found that the typical workout takes a total of 47 minutes, on average. Fine. But it was also discovered that among those who regularly exercise, their pre- and post-workout routine takes nearly 4 hours! The poll, taken in the US, found that people are spending 101 minutes on pre-workout prep and 133 minutes recovering, on average. And what exactly is going on before and after we exercise? Beforehand, fitness enthusiasts report spending time programming their workouts, drinking or eating protein concoctions, and creating workout playlists. Afterward, exercisers tend to stretch, shower, eat a full meal, and log their workouts in an app or journal.

The holidays may be over, but the Kardashian-Jenner crew still have gifts to give. The OG reality TV family recently announced their docuseries “The Kardashians” will return to Hulu for season 6 on Feb. 6. And in a new teaser trailer, Kim, Kourtney, and Khloé Kardashian, plus Kendall and Kylie Jenner and mom Kris Jenner appear as works of art come to life in a museum, before turning to camera and stepping out of their frames. The fam – dressed all in black — strut down the museum hall together, as the phrase appears: “Boundaries are made to be broken.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2yfte9zn
Kristen Bell wrapped up 2024 in the best possible way – by donating some serious cash to those needing help with their medical bills. The “Frozen” star connected with Instagram personality Tommy Marcus (AKA Quentin Quarantino). He initially asked Bell to simply share a health-related GoFundMe page in hopes of helping someone in need. But she took the goodwill one step further, donating $100,000 toward others’ medical bills – by topping up a number of GoFundMe campaigns that had reached half their fundraising goals. The “Veronica Mars” star’s kind gestures included a donation of over $20K to a 3rd-grader’s leukemia battle, and nearly $25K to a patient named Murilo, who also is being treated for leukemia.
SCOOP OF THE DAY: Brought to you by JaseCaseMedical.com
A study claims that poor posture from texting is becoming an epidemic.
An astronomer has debunked the theory going around online that states you shouldn’t bother wishing upon a star, because chances are, you’re a million years too late, and the star is likely already dead. Laura Nicole Driessen, a postdoctoral researcher in Radio Astronomy at the University of Sydney, would like to assure you that your wish still has a chance of coming true. She points out that the stars we can see in the night sky are a lot closer and live a lot longer than you might think, and it is unlikely you’ve accidentally wished upon a star that’s already dead. Light from the most distant visible star takes only 10,000 years to reach earth. And even the brightest – and therefore shortest-lasting stars generally stick around for at least a few hundred thousand years. So, chances are that if you’ve seen a star and made a wish upon it, it’s still there.

A new report in The Conversation cautions those who buy second-hand clothing in thrift shops, due to the possibility that their “found treasures” could make you sick. A survey of second-hand clothing shops detected the presence of pathogenic bacteria that can cause skin and blood infections. Parasites which can cause skin infections such as dermatitis and scabies have also been found on second-hand clothing. On some materials, germs can live for as long as 200 days. Experts say all second-hand clothing should be thoroughly washed and stored in a dry environment.
