The average tip at full-service restaurants in the US hit its lowest level in 6 years, declining to 19.3% for the 3 months that ended Sept. 30. That’s a sign, experts say, that rising menu prices, the now-commonplace practice of restaurants adding mandatory service fees, and being prompted to tip at places that have been historically tip-free, has people becoming less-generous with gratuities. The Wall Street Journal reports that tipping peaked in 2021, when people were happy to give support to service workers who didn’t have the option of working from home. At that point, more than half of us tipped 20% or more. Last year, just 38% did.

The “Hollywood Squares” reboot made its debut on CBS. Hollywood Squares is hosted by NFL analyst (and “CBS Mornings” co-host) Nate Burleson. The game show features Drew Barrymore in the center square, joined by celeb guests in every episode. New names added to the guest lineup include Jay Leno, Whitney Cummings, Pete Holmes, Chaka Khan, Thomas Lennon, Nelly, Patton Oswalt, Nicole Byer, Drew Carey, Jeff Dunham, Max Greenfield, Lil Rel Howery, Rita Moreno and JB Smoove.

Huge bucks have been donated to victims of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires thanks to online crowdsourcing, with some of Hollywood’s biggest names among those opening their wallets. TMZ reports that GoFundMe has raised more than $100 million to support families, communities and businesses that sustained losses. Celebs who helped include Barbara Corcoran, who organized a GoFundMe for a mobile home park and contributed $50,000. Others who chipped in to fundraisers include $10K from Arnold Schwarzenegger, $45K from Marshmello and $20K from Sofia Vergara. The Jonas Brothers and Zach Bryan each gave $15K, Tony Hawk donated $10K, and those contributing $5K include Gal Gadot, Kristen Bell, Pink, Sheryl Crow, and Meghan Trainor.

SCOOP OF THE DAY: Brought to you by JaseCaseMedical.com

If you’ve ever complained that you wish you could be “left alone” to get your work done, then this job might be perfect for you. A remote Scottish island – that no one lives on – is seeking a “manager” – and comes with free accommodation. The Scottish Wildlife Trust has posted a job listing for a ranger on the island of Handa. Located off the west coast, Handa features dramatic cliff views, and is accessible via ferry. The island is also home to one of the most important seabird breeding colonies in Europe. The successful applicant will be responsible for organizing work programs and a team of volunteers. They will also be in charge of looking after Handa’s wildlife and its 8,000 annual visitors. Perks (aside from lodging) include weekly trips to the remote village of Scourie, on the mainland, for laundry, banking, and shopping. The position is on a 6-month contract starting in March, and comes with a salary of US $31,000. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2tuyw444

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

A photo of a very unconventional snack has gone viral in Australia, sparking a wave of opinions and even judgement online. A man posted the image to Reddit, referring to the creation as a “fairy snag.” It consists of a sausage nestled inside a slice of fairy bread — much to the horror of those who believe that these Australian barbecue staples should be enjoyed separately. Fairy is a beloved treat down under, made with white bread slathered in butter, and topped with colorful sprinkles. In this case, it was adorned with a sausage and some sauce. The post amassed over 4,000 upvotes and more than 700 comments – including those calling it “a monstrosity,” and “offensive”. Another asked: “Is this legal?” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/48ts58h3

Following the success of the Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown”, starring Timothée Chalamet — and with rock-star movies now as common as superhero flicks, here is Rolling Stone’s list of the ones they’d love to see…

☆ “Like a Hurricane: The Neil Young Story”: starring Timothée Chalamet

☆ “Let It Bleed: The Story of the Rolling Stones”: starring Timothée Chalamet in the dual role of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards

☆ “Rumours: The Saga of Fleetwood Mac”: starring Sydney Sweeney as Stevie Nicks and Timothée Chalamet as Lindsey Buckingham

☆ “What’s My Age Again?: The Blink-182 Story”: starring Timothée Chalamet (of course) as Tom DeLonge and Nicholas Braun as Mark Hoppus

☆ “Chumbawamba: You’re Never Going to Keep Us Down”: starring…you guessed it…Timothée Chalamet as singer Dunstan Bruce. (This one will probably be pretty short…)
