Living close to an airport could land you in hospital. A new study found that constant exposure to airplane noise, especially at night, can lead to stiffer and thicker heart muscles that can double or quadruple the risk of a heart attack, life-threatening heart rhythm or stroke. The researchers from University College London also pointed out that 40 million Americans reside near major airports.

In the ongoing saga of Vince McMahon’s controversies, the former WWE CEO has reached a settlement with the SEC over undisclosed payments related to relationships with employees and contractors. McMahon will cough up $400,000 as a civil penalty and reimburse WWE more than $1.3 million. Whether he’ll take center stage in the ring again remains to be seen, but at least his wallet is a bit lighter!

QUESTIONS PLAGUING HUMANITY:
• What do batteries run on?
• Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?
• How come toasters always have a setting that burns toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?
• How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?
• Do the “Alphabet Song” and “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” have the same tune?
• Will
you be able to get that tune out of your head for the rest of the
day?
• Why do we always ask babies and pets the same
question twice?
• Why does someone recite at a play, but play at a recital?
• Why is it that people will buy anything that’s ‘one per customer’?
• Is cheese the plural of choose?
• Why is it that if you tell the boss you were late for work because you had a flat tire, the next morning you’ll always have a flat tire?
• When looking at a group picture, has anyone ever looked at anyone besides themselves when they said “I love it!”?

✓ Every winter, at least one septillion (that’s 1 followed by 24 zeros) snow crystals fall from the sky.
✓ The average snowflake falls at about 3 mph.
✓ One inch of snow will produce just less than 1/10 of an inch of water when melted.
✓ There’s at least one instance of identical snowflakes. In 1988, two snowflakes collected from a Wisconsin storm were confirmed to be twins by an atmospheric research center.

Many workplaces in New York City are already implementing a proposed bill that would allow employees to take sick days for pet parent-related duties, including vet trips and potty training. But the “pawternity leave” policy does have its detractors, with some people arguing that it’s giving employees too long of a leash. The proposed bill calls for an expansion of the Earned Safe and Sick Time Act, which guarantees time off of work for employees to take care of themselves or family, to allow employees to use that time off to also care for animals. A survey conducted by pet wellness plan provider Wagmo found that 75% of employed pet owners missed at least one day of work within the last year to look after a pet, and 26% missed 6 or more days.

GOOD BAD HABITS:
If you made a New Year’s resolution, chances are that it has to do with ditching a bad habit. But not all ‘bad habits’ are actually bad. A Reddit user posted the question: “What counts as a bad habit, but it’s actually good?” Of the more than 1,000 responses, these are the best…
⇒ “Gaming. Studies have shown it improves problem-solving, critical thinking, multi-tasking, decision making, hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, memory, and concentration.”
⇒ “Shaking or vibrating your leg when you have to be sitting for a long time gets the blood moving. It’s better than being completely stationary for hours.”
⇒ “Crying actually helps ease pain, physically and emotionally.”
⇒ “Talking to yourself. Although it can be taken as a sign of loneliness, it can also help you concentrate and organize ideas.”
⇒ “Being lazy from time to time. Sleeping in. Just doing nothing…Enjoy life, nature, friends, alone time, watch silly videos, play games.”
⇒ “Taking a nap during lunch breaks. Some people look down on it, but I get a lot of energy from it.”
⇒ “Staying up late. Some people have different circadian rhythms, and it makes evolutionary sense that in order for a population to thrive, you couldn’t all be asleep at once.”
⇒ “Being less than 100% productive at work. Pacing yourself is important for mental and physical health.”
⇒ “Procrastination. Diamonds are made under pressure.”
⇒ “Swearing. It turns out that letting a few choice words fly is a great way to reduce stress and even dull pain. So, really, you’re not cursing — you’re just practicing verbal therapy!”
