SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH: Brought to you by TeamSolvo.com

If you feel lonesome, chances are you’ll have a harder time dealing with sicknesses like the common cold, according to a new study. Researchers at Rice University found that people who are lonely tend to feel lousier when fighting a cold than those who are in a relationship or surrounded a network of friends and family. In the study, which involved giving a cold virus via nasal spray to 159 people, it was found that loneliness did not increase one’s likelihood to get sick, but it did worsen symptoms while one was ill.

Mattel is facing a class action lawsuit over that unfortunate incident when it accidentally included a link to an ADULT website on some of its “Wicked” doll packaging, instead of the Universal movie site. According to a mother from South Carolina, the marketing material that listed the wrong website instead of WickedMovie.com came as an “absolute shock” and left her daughter “horrified.” The class-action suit says Mattel did not offer a refund for the tainted toy and she believes she and her daughter incurred damages, including emotional distress from the mistake.

10-3-2-1-0 SLEEP RULE:
A new TikTok trend aimed at people who wish they could sleep better is called the “10-3-2-1-0 sleep rule”. It’s a series of pre-bedtime steps you take throughout the day to prepare you for a better night of sleep. And many doctors are agreeing that these guidelines could actually help you focus on adopting healthier sleep habits. Here’s how the 10-3-2-1-0 sleep rule works…

✓ 10 hours before bed: No more caffeine. Because even if you don’t believe caffeine affects your sleep, it does.

✓ 3 hours before bed: No more food or alcohol. Because it takes about 3 hours for food to move through the digestive system, and this can interfere with sleep. And as you know, booze causes poor quality sleep, so stay away from that for at least 3 hours as well.

✓ 2 hours before bed: No more work or studying. Anything that’s mentally (or emotionally) stimulating before bed can affect your sleep. This also means, in order to unwind, avoiding stressful movies, sports, and the news.

✓ 1 hour before bed: No more screen time. Screens emit blue light, which may impact sleep by disturbing your circadian rhythm. Try deep breathing, or reading.

✓ 0: No hitting “snooze” the next morning. Doing so just leads to a more-fragmented sleep-awake-sleep cycle, and is not as restorative as regular sleep. If you need more sleep, go to bed earlier.

FUN FACT FOR YOU:
Share this with your friends... they'll think you're really smart!

✓ Pigeons put off things they don’t want to do, even if it causes problems later.

✓ North American oysters do not make pearls of any value.

✓ Frowning burns more calories than smiling.

✓ Police are sometimes called “the fuzz” because London cops once wore fuzzy helmets.

✓ Many newer cars play fake engine noise through their speakers so car enthusiasts will buy them.
