SURVEYS, STUDIES & SUCH: Brought to you by TeamSolvo.com

A new study says that you could add 11 years to your life simply by adding a daily walk to your routine. The study, led by researchers at Griffith University in Australia, challenges previous estimates of the benefits of physical activity, which were largely based on self-reported data. The new data revealed that if every American over the age of 40 was as physically active as the most active 25% of the population, they could expect to live an extra 5 years, on average. And if you are among the LEAST active 25% of the population, you could add an average 11 years to your life if you stepped up (literally!) your physical activity to match those who are most active. The scientists determined that would involve adding about 111 minutes per day of normal-paced walking, which is about 3mph (5kph).

Due to the extremely warm weather in the summer of 2013, several nuclear power plants across the world, including ones in Japan, Israel, and Scotland, were forced to close down because of a sudden increase in the population of Jellyfish. The mass amounts of Jellyfish clogged the filters that draw seawater into the power plants in order to cool down their reactors!

Former “Harry Potter” film actor Rupert Grint needs to conjure up $2.3 million after losing a legal battle with tax authorities. Grint, who played ‘Ron Weasley’ in the magical film franchise, was ordered to pay the money in 2019 after the UK tax agency investigated his return from 7 years earlier. H.M. Revenue and Customs said Grint wrongly classed 4.5 million pounds in residuals from the movies — money from DVD sales, TV syndication, streaming rights, etc. — as a capital asset rather than income, which is subject to a much higher tax rate. Grint’ lawyers appealed, but a judge ruled against the actor last week.

Vanderpump Rules” is returning for season 12 – with a completely new cast, following the “Scandoval” debacle. Season 12 of the Bravo show will feature SUR owner Lisa Vanderpump and a whole new crop of close-knit employees. In a statement, Vanderpump said: “The last 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary run full of laughter, tears and everything in between.” After thanking “those who have shared their lives”, she wrote: “In the restaurant business, one shift always gives way to another. Cheers to the next generation of ‘Vanderpump Rules.’” Season 12 will begin production next year.

SCOOP OF THE DAY: Brought to you by TeamSolvo.com

This year, Christmas and the first day of Hanukkah are on the same day.

There seems to be a debate brewing online lately that just might divide the internet. Are you ready for this? The question is whether you should “WASH” your Christmas tree before decorating it. Apparently, videos of people spraying down their freshly-chopped trees have been a thing on TikTok for a few years, and it seems they are becoming more popular. Why would someone do this? Well, there is some logic to the idea. One clip shows a user named Marilyn Webb with water gushing out of the bottom of the tree along with a pile of dirty pine needles. In the comments, she wrote: “My kids used to have asthma, so for us it has been a must, and now it’s just a thing we do.” The trend also includes people washing artificial trees in bathtubs. And Country Living recently wrote about the subject, pointing out that it isn’t just about losing the dirt and dust – it can also help rid your tree of insects before you bring it inside. So, it’s December now, and I believe that means the season of pumpkin spice is officially over. So, what’s next? If the deep thinkers at Pepsi are to be believed, you definitely want to get your hands on their new festive flavor, which tastes like “the holiday season in a can”. The new Pepsi Zero Sugar Gingerbread blends notes of brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger and molasses. According to AllRecipes, Pepsi Zero Sugar Gingerbread gives a “dirty soda vibe” that starts sweet and “almost chocolatey in flavor” and finishes warm and spicy with an “almost creamy mouthfeel.” The new soda flavor, out this week, will only be available on Pepsi’s website via a special giveaway and on TikTok. It’s the first holiday release for Pepsi since Pepsi Holiday Spice, which was released in 2004 and discontinued 2 years later.
