Everyone who has ever owned pets has at least one good story – and now, a new survey of 2,000 pet owners is revealing the craziest calamities pets have unleashed on their owners. The Talker Research poll respondents told tales of stolen dentures, hearing aids, and even a Thanksgiving turkey. One person said their pet “ate a laptop, a Bible, two chargers, and a pillow because we left him in the house alone for 30 minutes.” Pet parents reported their furry friends have brought live pigeons, possums, snakes, bats, and bunnies into their homes. A quarter of pet parents reported their pet has gotten themselves into a conundrum in the last day. And among newer pet owners, 54% said they had experienced a pet catastrophe in the last few days.

A study found that people who post inspirational quotes on Facebook are less intelligent.

Researchers at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology say they have found the recipe for success. In their quest to determine which personality traits are needed to become good at something, having a positive attitude came in at the top. It’s long story, but those with a positive attitude have what the researchers call a “growth mindset,” meaning they believe intelligence and skills can be developed through hard work, dedication and effort — and see obstacles as opportunities to grow and improve. On the other hand, a “fixed mindset” means that you believe intelligence, talents and personality cannot change — regardless of effort. These people tend to avoid challenges, give up when something is hard, and take constructive criticism as a personal attack. People who believe they will succeed are far more passionate and have greater willpower than those who do not have a positive attitude.

A London, Ontario college student has constructed what is believed to be the world’s smallest arcade machine. Victoria Korhonen, an electromechanical engineering student at Fanshawe College, unveiled her creation last week. The mini-machine, measuring 2.5 inches (6.4cm) tall, 1 inch wide and 1.3 inches long, runs the classic game “Pong”. While in high school, Korhonen was part of a team that broke the Guinness World Record for the longest selfie stick.
