Driving while listening to a certain seasonal song could land you in a snowbank if you’re not careful. This fearsome festive news comes from a study by researchers from the South China University of Technology. They say that listening to songs with a BPM (beats per minute) greater than 120, while driving, such as ‘Frosty the Snowman’, can subconsciously encourage distraction and dangerous driving habits. After evaluating a lengthy list of Christmas tunes, Frosty the Snowman, first recorded by Gene Autry, with a BPM score of 172, was named “the most dangerous” to drive to. The second most dangerous song was found to be Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, with a nerve-jangling BPM of 150.

Scientists have discovered that sex-starved fruit flies live shorter and more stressful lives.

Here’s a great way to help decide what to buy for the people on your Christmas list: Ask yourself, “Is this something the person wants – or is it something you want to give them”? According to a psychologist, the best gifters are those who are able to leave their ego at the door. Julian Givi, who is also a marketing expert, who has been studying gifting practices for a decade, says people tend to prefer presents they’ve asked for, rather than surprises. That means we should go the straightforward route, and get them what they’ve asked for – or hinted about. Givi also says that you shouldn’t be afraid to give a partial gift, for example, FOUR nice dinner plates out of the EIGHT the person asked for. Other gifting suggestions include: Giving experiences (like vacations or massages), sacrificing using fancy gift wrap so you can splurge on the main attraction, and giving sentimental presents rather than clothes or gadgets for those closest to you.

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

There are lots of calendars released around this time of year, often to raise money for an important cause, and sometimes featuring suggestive photos. But this one takes the beefcake. A hilarious new calendar for 2025 featuring pub regulars in awkward poses around their hometown of Leek in Britain has come out in time for Christmas. In it, a brave group of working men proudly showcase their beer guts, after stripping naked to raise cash for prostate cancer research. The crew of 20 men, who call themselves the Leek Calendar Boys, are seen protecting their modesty with things like a boxing glove, a traffic cone and even a chainsaw, as they pose for the Full Monty-style calendar. They came up with the idea while sitting in the Blue Mugge Pub in Staffordshire, chatting about fundraising over a pint, after realizing that most of them had been affected in some way by cancer. Other clever methods the calendar boys used to cover their naughty bits include a well-placed drum kit, a stuffed pheasant, pet ferrets, and, this being a collection of photos of working men, a sausage from the local butcher. THE LIST: Brought to you by TeamSolvo.com

Dog-walking company Rover released its 12th annual “Top Pet Names Report”, revealing some of the unique names given to dogs and cats in the US by their – apparently hungry – owners. While the top dog names include Charlie, Milo, Luna and Bella, and top cat names include Oliver, Leo, Luna and Lily, a growing trend seems to be naming pets after food and drink. Topping the list of dog names trending upward were Calzone, Chive and Provolone, as well as Tortilla, Cauliflower and Pork Chop. Provolone was a trending name for cats, too, and so were these delicious, if sometimes cheesy names: Casserole, Burger, Burrito, Goat, Maple Syrup, Dumpling, Loaf, and Pepperoni.
