It’s like being “hangry”, but for tired people. And we all do it. When we feel mentally drained, it’s only natural to get ‘meaner’ and more hostile, according to a new study. Scientists from the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca in Italy determined that that making several difficult decisions at once can wear down the brain areas responsible for self-control. That essentially puts those areas of the brain “to sleep”, leading to aggressive or impulsive behavior. The team found that spending just 45 minutes on ‘executive function’ tasks like making plans and solving problems increases the likelihood you’ll engage in aggressive acts in social situations.

The Billboard Music Awards are returning to TV and their original home — with a twist. The 2024 BBMAs will be telecast Dec. 12 on Fox — where the awards show first aired in 1990. In addition, the show will be available on Amazon’s Fire TV Channels and on Paramount+. Actress-comedian Michelle Buteau will host the special, which will be pre-recorded at multiple venues around the world, at least some of them tied to the show’s presenting sponsor, Marriott Bonvoy, including a performance by country star Shaboozey. Zach Bryan leads the pack with 21 nominations, and Taylor Swift has 17.

Chad Duell is saying goodbye to “General Hospital.” The 37-year-old wrote on Instagram that he has stepped down from the soap opera. Duell has played ‘Michael Corinthos’ since 2010. In his post, he said: “This wasn’t an easy decision for me, but it feels like the right time in my life.” General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini confirmed the news, writing on X that Duell “will be missed by everyone at #GH”, and “There are no plans to recast his role at this time, but you never know in daytime.”

Tim Burton’s scary good sequel, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” will soon haunt your house from your home screen. The long awaited sequel will be available to stream on Max beginning Dec. 6, after it was released in theaters in September. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice did well at the box office, where it opened to $111 million domestically, which was the second highest September debut ever. In total, it made more than $450 million at the global box office.

SCOOP OF THE DAY: Brought to you by TeamSolvo.com

A study says that being in love makes you a less productive person.

A quarter of us admit we’re still carrying pounds gained during last year’s holiday season. A new survey of 2,000 Americans found that 24% are still carrying weight from the end of 2023; on average, about 10 pounds (4.5kg). As for what we expect to add to that this year, people said they expect to gain an average of 6 additional pounds before the New Year arrives.

The word of the year for 2024, according to Cambridge Dictionary, is “manifest.” And that’s quite an accomplishment for a word that’s 600 years old. But manifest has been given new life by well-known people like Olympian Simone Biles, singer Dua Lipa, and social media influencers, who have increasingly been using the word to describe channelling their dreams into successes. As a verb, manifest means to use methods such as visualization and affirmation to “help you imagine achieving something you want,” according to Cambridge. Before 2024, manifest was mainly used in the self-help community. But Cambridge says that changed when Biles, a gymnast, talked about “manifesting” her success at the Paris Olympics, and Dua Lipa said she “manifested” headlining to a crowd of 100,000 fans.

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

The guy who made headlines by paying $6.2 million for a banana says he plans to – eat it. Cryptocurrency entrepreneur Justin Sun bought piece of artwork, named “Comedian”, at auction in New York last week, and naturally paid for it using crypto. Created by the Italian artist and satirist Maurizio Cattelan, it features a banana duct-taped to a wall. Sun announced: “In the coming days, I will personally eat the banana as part of this unique artistic experience, honoring its place in both art history and popular culture.” The good news for him is that his snack won’t change the value of his investment. The $6.2 million purchase got him a roll of duct tape, instructions on how to “install” the banana properly and, very importantly, a certificate of authenticity guaranteeing the artwork, when reproduced by Sun, as an original work of Cattelan’s. Good thing, too – because the banana wasn’t actually included in his winnings, and it’d probably be no-good by now anyway. Sun tweeted: “This is not just an artwork; it represents a cultural phenomenon that bridges the worlds of art, memes, and the cryptocurrency community.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2hpccnht
