Dear John
I have a question... I have a really great friend that I love to death and value his friendship and his experience and his family! There's an issue with communication, however. Specifically with texting and I feel like it's a common courtesy or etiquette issue at this point. We, as a society have been texting for what, 30+ years at this point? In my mind, I feel like there should not be a question of where the other party went. If there's a back-and-forth and then the other party just vanishes for hours without a word. I try to communicate if I get busy or am on a work call, or have to go drive somewhere and it's mid-conversation, I'll say, hang on I gotta _____ be back in a bit. This friend of mine, doesn't have that "gene". He just vanishes and sometimes for hours or days, mid-conversation. Or, I'll ask a question that's timely or needs to be answered soon, and nothing..... for hours. I started teasing him and texting things like #superbusychatlater to sort of prompt him to at least say something, even if it's "I can't talk right now, in a meeting" or whatever. Again, this friend is awesome and outside of this issue, he's an amazing dude and a huge inspiration to me in a lot of ways. I'm just getting really annoyed and fed up about this texting situation. What would you advise? Calling really isn't an alternative, he'd likely never answer and who calls anymore?

Guys, be warned. It turns out that you need a woman a lot more than they need men, when it comes to finding happiness. A pair of University of Toronto psychologists analyzed data from nearly 6,000 single adults from 10 studies, and found that un-partnered girls are happier than their guy counterparts in every measurement. Women were found to be happier being on their own, less likely to want a significant other, more sexually satisfied — and more content overall. The researchers found that the reason that women are happier being single is that they are more likely to have supportive platonic relationships. In addition, romantic relationships are less beneficial for women, because they’re more likely to take on a larger share of household duties. That means single men “have more to gain from partnering than do single women.” Studies in the past have shown that women also tend to enjoy their solitude more than men.

Lizzo has purchased Jeremy Renner’s Hollywood Hills home for a whopping $12.4 million, TMZ says. The “Hawkeye” star made a tidy profit on the sale of the lavish 6-bedroom, 9-bathroom pad, which he purchased in 2012 for $4 million. The outlet says Renner had also invested about $5.5 million into renovations on the property located near Laurel Canyon. He listed the home for $13 million in August, and Lizzo reportedly bought it at the end of October. With a recording studio on the roughly 9,000-square-foot lot, it seems like it could be a perfect spot for the singer.
“The Simpsons” voice actor Pamela Hayden, who played ‘Milhouse’ and a number of other characters, is retiring from the show after 35 years. Her final episode will be “Treehouse of Horror Presents: Simpsons Wicked This Way Comes,” airing this Sunday. Hayden voiced Milhouse Van Houten, the blue-haired best friend of ‘Bart Simpson’, as well as school bully ‘Jimbo Jones’, Ned Flanders’ son ‘Rod’ (and sometimes his other son ‘Todd’), Chief Wiggum’s wife ‘Sarah’ and Lisa’s friend ‘Janey Powell.’ She has been a mainstay on “The Simpsons” since its first episode in 1989.

A cruise line is offering up something special for anyone in the US who plans to actually make good on their threat to leave the country after the results of last week’s election. Villa Vie Residences has announced that the “Villa Vie Odyssey” ship will now let passengers set sail for as long as 4 years. That means those who are upset about Donald Trump beating Kamala Harris could depart on a journey that visits 140 countries – and won’t return home until a new president is elected in 2028. The “Skip Forward” package makes its way to all 7 continents in the course of that 4 years, but it’ll cost you. Single-occupancy rooms start at $256,000, and double-occupancy rooms start at $320K. The company says the trip gives passengers “flexibility to escape traffic jams, politics, and the monotony of city life.”
