According to a new study, people are more bored than ever before – and in spite of the fact that we have more entertainment options at our fingertips than ever before, digital media is to blame. The data, published by Communications Psychology in a study named “People Are Increasingly Bored in Our Digital Age”, showed that there’s a higher rate of people reporting experiences of boredom. In particular, adolescents and college students are feeling bored more frequently since 2009. The researchers believe that digital media is a major reason for the uptick in boredom, because it creates “great stimulation”, and thereby makes people uninterested in activities that provide less stimulation, like reading a book or attending a lecture. They also argue that digital media fragments our attention, meaning people have a harder time focusing on one activity. And we all know that our smartphones create a ton of distractions, which can definitely disrupt our focus. The researchers said that earlier studies have proven that frequent interruptions decrease satisfaction and people’s ability to engage in one task, which leads to increased boredom.

In a survival situation, if you were to drink seawater, it would rapidly dehydrate you and soon lead to your death. However, it is vastly less harmful to eat frozen seawater. This is because it contains a tenth of the amount of salt in its liquid form due to the fact that the salt is separated from the water when freezing as it does not fit into the crystalline structure of ice.

The cast of the “Wicked” movie almost looked a lot different, with Stephen Daldry as director and Lady Gaga and Shawn Mendes in lead roles. The English director and producer of “The Crown” had Gaga in mind to play the character of ‘Elphaba’, according to sources familiar with the project, as quoted by Page Six. The insider said that Gaga even had meetings with Daldry to flesh out the character, and she was cast in the role, but it “fell through”. Mendes was rumored to star as ‘Fiyero’ in the film, a role ultimately played by Jonathan Bailey. Daldry, who was announced as the film’s director in 2016, exited the project in 2020 due to scheduling conflicts.

Pizza Hut’s new offering gives you the chance to pair your pizza with wine – literally. The restaurant has partnered with a winery to create – pizza wine. Tomato Wine by Pizza Hut is the company’s limited-edition offering that supposedly “captures the essence of your favorite slice in every sip”. The red wine is not made from grapes, but rather from tomatoes infused with basil. Tomato Wine, made in partnership with Irvine’s Just Beyond Paradise Winery, costs $25 per bottle, and is said to offer “an aromatic blend of fresh herbs and spices with rich, sun-ripened tomato notes and a subtle hint of toasted oak.” And the taste? It is “reminiscent of a perfectly baked pizza crust.”
