If you’re hoping that science might some day allow us all to live for 150 years or more, I’ve got bad news: Humanity may already be at the upper limit of life expectancy, according to new research. Even though we often hear of exciting advances in medical technology and genetic research – and often see reports of people living way beyond 100 years, a University of Illinois-Chicago study found that these success stories are not translating into marked jumps in lifespan overall. They actually discovered that among some countries with the longest-living populations (Australia, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain and Switzerland), people these days aren’t sticking around as long as they once did. The researchers surmised that there is a biological limit to how long most people live, and we’re about to hit it, as science is able to squeeze “less and less life out of life-extending technologies.”

According to a survey, using an Android phone could be impacting your dating life. In a summer poll of 1,000 anonymous phone users by All About Cookies, 22% of iPhone users admitted they look down on those sending non-iMessage texts, and nearly 23% of iPhone users said finding out a potential romantic interest is an Android user would be a total dealbreaker. 31% of men said they’d swipe left on an Android user, while 16% of women felt the same. The same survey found that 52% of Android users have been made fun of for their device.

James Bond bosses are sifting through “interesting ideas” as they search for someone to replace Daniel Craig. Craig stepped down from the franchise following the release of the 2021 film “No Time to Die”, and now Jennifer Salke, global head of Amazon MGM Studios, has given an update on the casting process. She said: “There are a lot of ideas (about potential actors) that have popped up that I thought are interesting”, and “There are a lot of different ways we can go”. She recognizes that Bond fans are being “patient” as the search continues, but also doesn’t want to leave too much of a gap between 007 films.

Jeff Goldblum has dismissed the idea of returning to the “Jurassic Park” franchise. He played ‘Dr. Ian Malcolm’ in the first 2 instalments of the series, as well as the legacy sequels “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” and “Dominion”. But now, he says, his time in the series is over — probably. He told Total Film: “I think Ian Malcolm may have ridden off into the sunset. Maybe.” Even though Goldblum has seemingly parted ways with the series, he’s excited to see the next entry in the franchise “Jurassic World: Rebirth”, which features Scarlett Johansson and his “Wicked” co-star Jonathan Bailey, which is scheduled for release in July.

Sydney Sweeney will star alongside Amanda Seyfried in a film adaptation of the bestselling Freida McFadden book “The Housemaid.” In the thriller, Sweeney will play ‘Millie’, a struggling young woman who is relieved to get a fresh start as a housemaid to ‘Nina’ (Seyfried) and ‘Andrew’, an upscale, wealthy couple. But she soon learns that the family’s secrets are far more dangerous than her own. Paul Feig, the filmmaker behind “Bridesmaids” and “Ghostbusters,” will direct.

A study claims that money can’t bring you happiness. But education, leisure, and kids do.

In preparation for Autumn leaf-viewing season, Virginia State Parks have equipped all 43 of its properties with special viewfinders to allow the colorblind to enjoy the spectacular fall foliage. The lenses in the viewfinders allow those with red-green Color Vision Deficiency to experience the full breadth of color observed in the autumnal leaf displays that Virginia is famous for. Red-green CVD is the most common form worldwide, affecting around 350 million people, and 13 million Americans. While people with normal color vision see over one million shades of color, those with red-green CVD are estimated to see about 10% of hues and shades. Installation began last year, led by a Chief Ranger, who is colorblind himself. One Virginian who was invited to test the new viewfinders remarked: “Y’all see this every day, huh?”

A photo shared by the founder of a US startup has been given the title of “one of the most depressing LinkedIn posts to exist”. In his post, Torrey Leonard of the AI company Thoughtly, praised new groom Casey Mackrell — for pulling out a laptop at his own wedding to get some work done. Leonard wrote: “My co-founder Casey has built a reputation…as ‘the guy who sits on his laptop in bars’…Last week Thoughtly brought on a customer that needed to launch within 2 weeks. (Casey) just so happened to be getting married within that 2-week window. So, here he is wrapping up a…request at his own wedding. Congrats Casey – now please, go take some time off.” The post was accompanied by a photo showing Casey in a suit, sitting at a table with his laptop in front of his dancing wedding guests. The post quickly went viral, and the comments were not as understanding as Leonard was. The groom later tried to smooth things over, commenting from his honeymoon: “Don’t worry I got back to dancing and champagne 2 seconds later.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4cpytcey

A United Airlines pilot bought 30 pizzas for the passengers on his plane during a long flight delay. Tanya Stamos shared on TikTok that she was flying from San Francisco to Houston when the plane had to divert to New Mexico due to a medical emergency. In the clip, she explains that following the unscheduled landing at 4pm, passengers were deplaned, and the “amazing” pilot “felt so bad for the situation that he ordered 30 pizzas from a local pizza shop and had it delivered right to our gate, then made sure all 150 passengers ate before he made himself a plate.” Pics show the pilot organizing a stack of pizza boxes at the gate. In another shot, he’s seen serving slices to passengers holding paper plates. The plane was finally able to take off again at 11pm, more than 7 hours after the unscheduled stop.
