A new study says that meditation can help with pain relief. Research published in Biological Psychiatry, shows how, when asked to rate their pain levels, participants trained in mindfulness meditation reported less discomfort than those who did not receive the instruction. Mindfulness meditation, derived from ancient Hindu and Buddhist practice, is the process of training to achieve a state of calm concentration. It has also been shown to reduce blood pressure, intensify orgasms, improve overall health and increase social connections. And when practiced in the workplace, mindfulness meditation guards against anxiety, stress and burnout.

A British man who developed an interest in drone shows while undergoing treatment for cancer broke the Guinness World Record for the most emojis formed by drones in 3 minutes. Christopher Bradbury says he started flying model aircraft while undergoing chemotherapy to get himself out of the house, and for the sake of his mental health. Eventually, drones became his “entire life”, and he now does aerial work for TV and film, as well as survey work. He was awarded a Guinness World Record for programming 109 drones to form the images of emojis including eggplant, rocket, magnet and various faces in the sky, totaling 30 images in 3 minutes, thus breaking the previous record of 24. And in case you’re wondering, yes, one of the emoji that lit up the sky that night was indeed the “poop” one. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4db4nx95

Nearly 30 years after “Bad Boys” hit theaters, Will Smith and Michael Bay are eyeing a reunion. Bay is in negotiations to direct the action flick “Fast and Loose” for Netflix, with Smith set to star. Fast and Loose follows a man who wakes up in Tijuana with no memories. As he pieces together his past, he learns he’s been living 2 lives: one as a crime kingpin and the other as an undercover CIA agent. Bay and Smith first teamed up for 1995’s “Bad Boys,” which was Bay’s directorial debut. It spawned 3 sequels: “Bad Boys II,” “Bad Boys for Life” and “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.”

Monty Python’s Eric Idle says he “shouldn’t be alive” and enjoys “every moment” of his life, 5 years after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The 81-year-old comedian underwent surgery after he was diagnosed in 2019, and says he is thankful the disease was caught early. Asked if having cancer had changed him, he told The Times newspaper: “Oh, I shouldn’t be alive. I’m a lucky (you know what) and I enjoy every moment.”

Music seems to surround us, no matter where we go throughout the day. And as meaningful and uplifting as it is, science also shows that it can help you while working on a project, studying, and doing homework, because it is capable of increasing your focus and even motivating you. Although results may vary according to the individual, research has given us these guidelines, in case you like to have tunes in the background as you carry out a mentally demanding task:

Instrumental or familiar music in the background competes (or distracts) less with a study assignment than songs with lyrics or unfamiliar music. Instrumental music also seems to interfere less with reading.

Soft, fast music has a positive impact on learning, but loud and fast, loud and slow, and soft and slow music all hinder learning.

Upbeat music may help when you’re doing something requiring movement or motivation, such as exercising or cleaning your room.

The more difficult your task is – for instance, memorizing material, problem-solving, or learning something new – the more likely that music will be distracting.

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

A work of art was rescued from the trash at a Dutch museum — after being mistaken for what it depicts: a pair of abandoned beer cans. The 1988 piece by French artist Alexandre Lavet named “All The Good Times We Spent Together”, looks at first to be a pair of empty beer cans abandoned on the floor. But if you looked closer, you’d see that the dented cans were “meticulously hand-painted with acrylics, with each detail painstakingly replicated,” according to the LAM Museum. While on display, an elevator technician thought they were actual litter, and tossed them. Employees who noticed the artwork was missing launched a search and rescued the intact cans from a trash bin. The museum’s director said that what happened is “a testament to the effectiveness of Alexandre Lavet’s art.”
