Donny Dust is a US Marine Corps veteran who now owns and operates Colorado’s premier survival and wilderness self-reliance school. He’s amassed two decades worth of primitive living skills everywhere from the jungles of Asia to the mountains of North America. He’s appeared on reality TV series like History Channel’s Alone and hosted USA Channel’s Mud, Sweat & Beards. Now, Donny brings all he’s learned to Wild Wisdom. He teaches you how to be more observant to help avoid danger, problem-solve, prioritize finding shelter, and to be flexible and creative when you need the right supplies for a task. He also focuses on essential gear, sheltering, building fire, staying hydrated, food, foraging, and trapping. Beautiful and instructive illustrations throughout make this is must-carry for anyone venturing into nature.

Millions of people now follow Donny Dust on TikTok to watch him craft objects from nothing but what he finds in the wilderness. Even the tools he uses to do the crafting are made from scratch, whether it’s a saw, chisel, hammer, or cordage. He’s made bows, arrows, axes, rope, sandals, backpacks, bowls, swords, and of course, fire—lots of fire—but Wild Wisdom offers so much more. Written by one of the country’s foremost experts, it’s a book for almost anyone, whether you’re a longtime outdoorsperson hoping to hone your skills and deepen your appreciation and understanding of the wilderness, or a newcomer looking to take your first adventures in nature.

Some scientists are calling for flights to slow down, because slower airplane speeds would help save the planet. Researchers at the University of Cambridge have announced their idea to help the aviation industry get to net zero carbon emissions by 2050 — by mandating longer flight times. Their “bold measure” would see flight times slowed by 15%, which would add about 50 minutes of travel time to pretty much every transatlantic flight. They say the proposal would cut fuel consumption by 5-7%, and would reduce the industry’s overall 4% contribution to climate change.

The world’s tallest mountain is getting taller. Mount Everest is 15-50m (50-165ft.) taller than it would otherwise be because a river is eroding rock and soil at its base, helping push it upwards, according to a new study. University College London researchers say that a river basin 75km (47 miles) away is causing the world’s highest peak to rise by up to 2mm a year. A study co-author likened the process to “throwing a load of cargo off a ship”, causing the ship to become lighter, and “float a little higher”. Another factor in Everest’s rise is continued pressure from the collision of the tectonic plates which formed the Himalayan mountains in the first place, 40-50 million years ago.

Anna Delvey is standing by her comments on “Dancing with the Stars”. The convicted con artist addressed the now viral comment she made after her elimination from the show while chatting to Tori Spelling on her podcast. Delvey, who was voted off in a double elimination with Spelling on Sept. 24, shocked fans when host Julianne Hough asked her what she was taking away from her experience and she bluntly replied, “Nothing.” When asked by Spelling why she made the comment, Delvey said: “Because that was the truth. You guys told me what I’m supposed to do. I tried to do it and then I still was rejected. And, I’m taking away nothing…because your advice was worthless.” She also called her and Spelling being voted off “an attempt of an embarrassment for us to get eliminated before [contestants] Eric [Roberts] and Reginald [VelJohnson]”, and said that she believes she and Spelling were better dancers.

George Clooney’s a whole lot richer after selling his L.A.-area home — and, now we know who bought it. TMZ reports sources as saying model Olivia Culpo and San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey scooped up the Fryman Canyon home for just over $14 million. Clooney purchased the 6-bedroom house from Stevie Nicks nearly 30 years ago for $2.2 million.

Travis Kelce is everywhere these days: dating Taylor Swift, winning the Super Bowl, making his acting debut, and now, hosting a game show. Prime Video has released the first trailer for “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?,” a new game show hosted by the NFL superstar. In the clip, Kelce walks onstage wearing a dusky pink suit, and explains this is “the game show where people could win ridiculous money, just by answering questions about stuff we all learned back in elementary school.” When one man confesses that he doesn’t know anything about geography, Kelce quips, “Me neither.” The spinoff of “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” premieres Oct. 16 on Prime Video. Japanese food supplier Nippon Ham is selling “Boost Noodle”, a new type of instant ramen noodles designed to be consumed with one hand – by simply sucking the contents from a small pouch. The stuff was created with gamers in mind – or anyone else who wants to scarf down calories without taking a break from whatever it is they’re doing. Boost Noodle consists of a special type of yam noodles, chashu pork, menma (fermented bamboo shoots), and a mix of pork stock and seafood broths. And because its target market is gamers, each pack of Boost Noodle also contains 35 milligrams of caffeine. And no need to heat the stuff – it’s ready to eat, right from the pouch! Police were called to the local Target in Flagler, Florida after a manager reported a man had walked out of the store without paying for a $539 electric scooter. Before entering the store, deputies spotted a man matching the suspect’s description, assembling the electric scooter on the sidewalk out front — with the product’s open box beside him.
