Some 430 quintillion Joules of energy from the sun hits the Earth every hour, while the entire population of the planet only uses 410 quintillion Joules each year, according to the U.S. Department of Energy via Business Insider.

Ryan Reynolds us urging the Academy to add a “Stunt” Oscar category. In a lengthy social media post, he wrote: “Stunt work doesn’t have a category at the Oscars, and I hope that’ll change someday. The “Deadpool & Wolverine” star pointed out that “Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd and Chaplin were stunt performers as well as filmmakers. Telling stories with their entire bodies.” Next, he drew attention to the crew on Deadpool & Wolverine, saying that they “over-delivered”, joking that he’ll “spend the rest of my days doodling their names in my Heidi Stationary, dotting all the ‘i’s’ with little hearts.” He also heaped praise on his co-star Hugh Jackman, who has played ‘Wolverine’ for 24 years and is known for performing many of his own stunts — a feat that Reynolds gushed is “mind boggling.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/y698mm85

A study finds that dogs understand the words we’re saying.

A high-tech startup is offering people the chance to cryogenically freeze their dead body – in hopes they may one day be revived. And while the concept isn’t new, Tomorrow Bio claims it is the first company ever to use a process called “field cryoprotection” in which they “begin the cryopreservation process immediately after a patient is declared legally dead”, using retrofitted ambulances, which function as mobile surgery rooms. I’m guessing this allows them to preserve corpses faster upon death, supposedly increasing the chances of a successful re-animation when the time comes to do so. The German-based firm’s co-founder believes that will happen “within my lifetime” – and he’s 40. What does it cost to put bodies on ice? Tomorrow Bio is charging US $222,603, plus $55 monthly. Or you can freeze just your brain for $83,000. So far, the company claims that 6 people and 5 pets have been treated to the big chill, where bodily fluids are replaced by “medical-grade antifreeze, and stored at a temperature of minus 320°F (-196° C).

THINGS DENTISTS SAY YOU JUST SHOULDN’T DO: (PART TWO)

These are the bad dental habits to avoid for a healthy smile, according to a dentist and professor of dentistry . . .

Don’t fall for DIY dentistry trends: No matter how popular they are on TikTok or wherever, never try those whitening recipes or 3D printing aligners without talking to a professional first.

Never play contact sports without a mouth guard: A professionally fitted sports guard can spare you a lot of pain and expense, in case something goes wrong, causing an injury to your teeth.

Don’t use your teeth as a tool: We’re all tempted to use our teeth to open packages, or even twist off bottle caps. This can mess with crowns and fillings, as well as your perfect teeth – and can lead to things like root canals and other repair jobs.

Never wear a drugstore appliance without your dentist’s approval: Over-the-counter appliances, like night guard or sports guards, can sometimes cause teeth to shift. And to fix them could require an investment in full orthodontics.

Never have a procedure done abroad without thorough research: The standard of care might be different in other countries. If you plan a trip for ‘medical tourism’, make sure that you know that things are sterilized properly, and done by a reputable organization.

Don’t brush your teeth immediately after eating acidic food: Hold off for 45 minutes, because the acids in certain foods have a temporary softening effect on the enamel layer of our teeth.

Don’t take your teeth for granted: Yes, we’d all like to have straight, white teeth, but remember: even if yours aren’t perfect, they still serve a very important purpose – helping you ingest the nutrition you need to power all your body’s functions.
