A group of scientists say their research shows that you need a vacation – and your life may depend on it. The team, from Australia’s Edith Cowan University, decided to look into how travel and tourism positively affect human health. Among other benefits, they found that travel tends to place us outdoors in fresher air and sunlight. It requires us to walk and do other exercise more than usual, which typically prevents us from overeating, and exhausts us in a way that makes sleep quality increase. These factors “are vital to the self-repair, self-organization, and anti-wear-and-tear systems.” In addition, exposure to unfamiliar streets, strange customs, and a new environment of microorganisms can boost your immune system, “improving “the body’s ability to perceive and defend itself against external threats; put simply, the self-defence system becomes more resilient”.

The more abdominal fat you have, the more likely you are to deal with chronic pain in multiple areas of the body, researchers say. A team from the University of Tasmania found that those with higher levels of abdominal fat had greater odds of reporting chronic pain overall, and were more likely to have pain in multiple sites, such as the neck, back, hips, and knees. The researchers theorize that this is because excess fat tissue produces inflammatory compounds that can sensitize nerves and amplify pain signals throughout the body. Excess fat may also cause increased stress on joints and tissues, causing a pain response.

Jennifer Lopez has her sights set on a new home following her split with Ben Affleck, and it’s a famous piece of L.A. real estate. TMZ quotes sources as saying J Lo is close to striking a deal to buy the Azria Estate in Holmby Hills. The 30,000-square-foot estate is listed for $55 million, and she’s said to be trying to negotiate the price down to somewhere in the $30 millions. The home, once owned by late BCBG owner Max Azria, has 14 bedrooms and sits on a 3-acre lot with gardens, a greenhouse, a guest house and an infinity pool with a sauna, plus an in-home theater and game room. Sources say J Lo has taken several tours of the place over the last few weeks. The estate served as a filming location for her movie “Atlas”.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have reunited amid their divorce. The estranged couple was spotted having brunch together with their children at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Saturday. Page Six reports a source as saying they were spotted in the Polo Lounge “holding hands and kissing”, with their kids “at a separate table.” At one point, the pair was photographed having what appeared to be an intense conversation in a car parked outside of the building. Notably, J Lo wore her engagement ring on her pinky finger. Reps for Lopez and Affleck did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

A bombshell new report alleges that the Duchess of Sussex terrifies her staff, with a source describing her as a “dictator in high heels” who has reduced “grown men to tears.” The embarrassing exposé, published by The Hollywood Reporter, is likely to rattle Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who celebrated his 40th birthday over the weekend. A source close to the couple alleges in the article that “everyone’s terrified of Meghan”, and that the high-turnover among the Sussex’s staff may be due to the fact that “She belittles people”, and the couple are “both poor decision-makers” who change their minds frequently.” And although Harry is a “very, very charming person…he’s very much an enabler. And she’s just terrible.”

With the recent trend toward traditional in-person matchmaking, rather than using dating apps, singles in Spain are finding love with the help of their local supermarket. First popularized on TikTok, of course, those who are looking to meet a special someone have been putting a pineapple upside down in their shopping cart between 7pm and 8pm at stores in the popular supermarket chain Mercadona. Doing so lets other singles know that you’re available — and invites them to bump their cart into yours. Then, later, if both meet in the wine section, it’s a match. The grocery store operators aren’t big fans of the trend, and claim their staff is starting to hide the pineapples for that one-hour period each day. But it’s catching on: Once, police had to be called due to an unruly crowd, and a German supermarket chain has now put the word out to its customers in Spain, inviting them to put a watermelon in their cart, to show they’re available.

McDonald’s Canada has unveiled what it is calling the “perfect fall McFlurry”. For a limited time, the fast-food chain is offering the S’mores McFlurry. It says the new flavor takes their vanilla soft serve and blends it with graham crackers, mini marshmallows, and hot fudge, similar to what people have been roasting over an open campfire for decades. Last week, food blogger Snackolator shared a photo and description of the new S’mores McFlurry via Instagram, calling it “another McFlurry flavor that is both simple and yet perfect that is for some reason not coming to the states.” Commenters quickly responded, asking McD’s to bring the flavor to the US.
