Lately, Elon Musk has been taking his personal safety more seriously. How seriously? The New York Times reports the Tesla CEO travels with 20 or more security personnel – drawing comparisons to a mini-Secret Service detail. And that doesn’t come cheap: According to Tesla filings, the company paid $2.4 million to cover a portion of that protection last year. How does that compare to other rich guys? Apple spent $820,000 to cover CEO Tim Cook last year; Amazon pays $1.6 million per year to guard Jeff Bezos. But Zuck takes the title: Meta shelled out $23.4 million last year to protect Mark Zuckerberg.

SCOOP OF THE DAY: Brought to you by BetterCreditCards.com

Lionel Richie has extended his Las Vegas residency into 2025.

The Ohio amusement park Cedar Point has announced plans for a thrilling new roller coaster with a track that completely separates mid-air. “Siren’s Curse” will be the “tallest, fastest and longest ‘tilt’ roller coaster in North America” when it opens next summer in Sandusky, just west of Cleveland. The coaster, supposedly inspired by the “legend and lore of mysterious creatures living beneath the surface of Lake Erie” includes a climb up a 160-foot (49m) Lake Erie shipping crane tower (with “sinister” sounds), followed by the moment when the train stops on a “broken off” section of the track. While hovering in mid-air, riders will be tilted 90 degrees, until they’re looking straight down. Next comes a “plunge into the abyss,” which involves zooming through 3,000 feet (914m) of track at up to 58 mph (93kph). The ride also features 13 weightless airtime moments, two 360-degree, zero-gravity barrel rolls and a “high-speed ‘triple-down’ element with twisted and overbanked track.” LINK: https://youtu.be/mIdb_eygDEM

WEIRD NEWS: Brought to you by WeirdGiftOfTheDay.com

Data from the James Webb telescope has revealed a nearby exoplanet with a few interesting features: it experiences sideways rain made of glass – and it reeks of rotten eggs. The exoplanet the size of Jupiter has long intrigued astronomers because of its scorching temperatures and screaming winds, but the telescope was able to determine that the planet known as HD 189733b, which is 64 light years from earth, harbors trace amounts of hydrogen sulfide in its atmosphere. Hydrogen sulphide is a colorless gas that releases a strong sulfuric stench, and has never before been spotted beyond our solar system.

THE LIST: Brought to you by BetterCreditCards.com

So, because apparently we can never have too many, 8 new emojis (or if you want to be a grammar Nazi, 8 new ‘emoji’) are expected to be available to smartphones soon – and if you feel like your need to have a “bags under the eyes” emoticon has been overlooked up until now, your day is coming soon. The Unicode Standard, which is responsible for creating new emojis, announced the new icons last week. Here is what’s coming:

A face with under-eye bags

A fingerprint

A purple splat symbol

A turnip (because this is often required?)

A leafless tree

A harp

A shovel (Definitely for texting about work…or politics), and

The official flag of Sark, an island in the English Channel.

For those counting, this new release will bring the total number of characters available to 154,998. On social media, users celebrated the inclusion of the emoji with dark under-eye circles and a bored expression, with one person writing on X: “Representation is important. thank you unicode team.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/9v5599w8
