Eating
well and exercising may be as effective for treating depression as
going to therapy, say researchers. A study conducted at Deakin
University in Australia found that a healthy diet and regular
exercise seem to do be just as effective as traditional psychotherapy
in treating depression. They say the finding could help those who
struggle with the idea of seeking mental health help, or may not be
able to afford regular therapy sessions.

It’s almost time for “The Golden Bachelorette,” and ABC has unveiled the 24 senior men that will be dating Joan Vassos. Vassos, who was introduced while dating Gerry Turner on “The Golden Bachelor” last fall, will get another chance at love after her husband of 32 years passed away. Bachelor Nation will be happy to see that Kelsey Anderson’s father, Mark, is in the mix after the widower won over fans’ hearts during Joey Graziadei’s season of “The Bachelor” earlier this year. He’s among the 24 men in their late 50s and 60s who will court Vassos, who is 61. The Golden Bachelorette premieres Sept. 18.
Rob Schneider is apologizing to his daughter Elle King after she publicly accused him of being a bad dad. The former “SNL” actor says he’s sorry he wasn’t the father she needed growing up. During an interview with Tucker Carlson, Schneider addressed their strained relationship and wished his daughter nothing but the best. He admitted he wasn’t a good father when King was a child, and asked for forgiveness. She went on record earlier, saying he sent her to “fat camp” and forgot her birthdays.

A study found that Americans spent more time researching cars than doctors.
A D-day veteran who defended landing troops from Nazi fighter planes received more than 200 cards from well-wishers for his 100th birthday. John Dennett, who lives near Liverpool, England, was surprised by the haul of 217 cards and letters sent to him from across the UK, marking his special day. He celebrated with friends and family at a party that featured food, entertainment, and wartime music. During his military career, Dennett also took part in other allied landings in North Africa and Italy, and this summer was able to return to France to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day. John quote: “It’s only now that I’ve reached 100 that I realize I’m that old. I’ll just have to take it easy now. All I hope is I reach 200!”

We’ll just hope that this invention never really comes to light: A new patent issued to automaker Ford would see cameras and sensors fitted to vehicles as a way of helping to “snitch” on speeders in other vehicles. The system that would detect if a nearby vehicle is exceeding the local speed limit. From there, a report containing data of the readings and maybe even a photo of the offending vehicle could be sent to police via internet. But before we all get all “Big Brother” about this, and start talking about the dystopian future of driving that lies in store, keep in mind that car companies apply for patents all the time, and even when they are approved, many never see the light of day.
