According to the cliché, the barbecue is the exclusive domain of the dude – and also the place where they do some of their best work. But it turns out that women are the “unsung heroes” of the grill, according to a new poll. 2,000 men and women took part in the survey, which showed that 53% of us believe women don’t get the credit they’re due – or the praise they deserve — for their skills on the grill. Why is that? Like I said, the stereotype is that grilling is a guy thing. But the majority of people (53%) agreed that that’s an outdated idea, and 77% think grilling should be just as common for women as it is for men. And by the way: The poll also found that 84% of males and females agree: there’s nothing better than a good grilled dinner in summertime.

Joe and Anthony Russo are assembling a team — again. The Russo Bros. are in early talks to return to Marvel Studios to direct not just one, but the next 2 “Avengers movies”, say sources. That ends a months-long, high stakes search by the studio for filmmakers to oversee the 5th and 6th Avengers films. Multiple names were in contention, including “Deadpool & Wolverine” director Shawn Levy, who was offered the gig. Sources say talks are in the early stages. The Russo Bros. have directed 4 of Marvel’s biggest and best-regarded movies, including 2 Avengers films.

An Ohio man made up a story about being robbed to avoid telling his wife he lost their wedding ring.

Analysts are calling it Amazon’s answer to discount online retailers Temu and Shein — the e-commerce giant’s is developing a “bargain section” it will use to sell goods that are Made in China, and will mostly sell for under $20. Products will include things like clothing, weights, phone cases, and even gua sha facial tools. The plan is for Amazon to ship the products directly to buyers in the US from Chinese warehouses in 9-11 days. Yes, that’s way slower than if you ordered through Prime, but chances are that if you’re shopping in the discount section, you’d be willing to be patient in order to save some money. Word is that by shipping directly from China, Amazon will also be able to take advantage of a loophole on import tariffs that both Temu and Shein currently use.

A Florida man is facing charges after he allegedly tried to withdraw 1 cent from a bank. Police say Michael Fleming entered the Chase Bank in Sumter County at 2pm last Saturday, and filled out a withdrawal slip for 1 cent and handed it to a teller. The bank teller reportedly told Fleming he couldn’t withdraw a penny. The man responded: “So you want me to say the other word?” In fear of possible violence, the teller called law enforcement. When deputies arrived, Fleming was still inside the bank and was taken into custody and held on $5,000 bond.

FAMOUS FIGURES WHOSE NAMES YOU’RE PROBABLY MISPRONOUNCING:

Dr. Seuss: You may know this one. Theodore Seuss Geisel’s pen name was Dr. Seuss. The correct German pronunciation rhymes with “voice”.

Jake Gyllenhaal: His surname pronounced properly sounds something like “Yeel-en-high-luh.” He joked to Conan O’Brien that the only places that can get it right are Sweden and IKEA.

Dr. Jekyll: Turns out it’s actually “Jeek-ul.” The character comes from the 1886 novella “Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde”, where the Scottish pronunciation would have “Jekyll” rhyming with “treacle,” not “heckle.”

Vincent Van Gogh: North Americans pronounce it “van Go,” while Brits tend to say it “van Goff.” Turns out the Dutch pronounce it with a more guttural noise, which sounds like something between a cough and a laugh: “Khokh.”

Genghis Khan: Most say this with a hard “G,” like in the word “great.” But the Mongols actually called their legendary leader “Chinghis Khan.” And the internationally accepted pronunciation uses a soft “G,” beginning with a “jay” sound.

Matt Groening: Of course, you WANT to say “groaning.” But the “oe” in The Simpsons creator’s name is pronounced like “ay,” making the correct pronunciation “graining.”

Lindsay Lohan: When she posted her first TikTok in 2022, she introduced herself by saying, not surprisingly, “Hey everyone, it’s Lindsay Lohan”. To the surprise of many, she pronounced her last name: “LOW-en” instead of “LOW-han.”

Amanda Seyfried: Her last name is often mispronounced “Sea-fred,” “Sea-fried,” or even “Seigfred.” The correct way to say it is “Sigh-fred”.

Martin Scorsese: While commonly pronounced “Scor-say-zee,” he introduces himself in an Entourage episode as Marty “Scor-sess-ee.”

Demi Moore: She is on record as saying her name as “Duh-mee” rather than “Dem-ee.”

Rihanna: While many say “Ree-ah-nuh,” the most dedicated fans know she actually pronounces it “Ree-ann-uh.”
