A recent poll found that, for Americans, their #1 dream car from the movies is the Auston Martin DB5 from the “James Bond” series. And while owning 007’s ride will more than likely remain a dream, when asked which features would make a more attainable “dream car”, technology was the #1 answer (26%). Other significant factors influencing respondents’ dream car preferences, according to the survey of 2,000 adults: Performance (25%), safety features (25%), reliability (23%) and emotional appeal (20%), in order. 31% expressed a strong preference for electric engines, beating out gasoline engines (27%), and hybrid alternatives (21%). And climate control (30%), leather or premium upholstery (30%), and a built-in navigation system (29%) ranked as the top 3 must-have comfort features.

Everyone
enjoys a meal out with family and friends, but have you ever noticed
how the noise level gradually increases as people try to be heard?
This phenomenon, known as the Lombard effect, has caught the
attention of researchers who are exploring ways to disrupt this cycle
and create more pleasant dining experiences. The suggestions of
American University scientists who looked into the phenomenon
include: understanding the acoustics of a space during design, and
strategically altering walls, to minimize the noise amplification.
Technology could also be employed, in the form of smart earbuds,
which can help individuals focus on a single speaker. But the most
effective method of combating ever-increasing sound levels in a
gathering of people was found to be this: People should learn to
lower their voices and enjoy a “quiet conversation”.

Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon are developing a sequel to “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” and planning a 2-season series that will serve as a “bridge” between the films. “Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” will appear on Paramount+. That’s a sign of how bullish the studio is about “Mutant Mayhem,” the animated feature that opens in theaters on August 2. Paramount and Nickelodeon chief Brian Robbins has made rebooting the Turtles a top priority after the live-action film franchise ran out of steam with 2016’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.”
These days, “Barbie” is everything, but it may just be a stand-alone movie. Although the Greta Gerwig-directed comedy continues to do big numbers at the box office, the filmmaker isn’t itching to start on a sequel. Gerwig, who also co-wrote the film, told a reporter: “At this moment, it’s all I’ve got. I feel like that at the end of every movie, like I’ll never have another idea and everything I’ve ever wanted to do, I did.” She continued, saying she “wouldn’t want to squash anybody else’s dream, but…at this moment, I’m at totally zero.”
Blake Lively went to extreme lengths to make sure her 2022 Met Gala dress looked perfect while on display in Kensington Palace. The “Gossip Girl” actress jumped over the rope to make some adjustments at the “Crown to Couture” exhibition, and shared a clip on her Instagram Story. She captioned the video, “When you’re the clown who hops over the rope at the museum to fix the exhibit.” Lizzo’s 2022 Met Gala ensemble and Lady Gaga’s 2020 MTV Awards dress are also on display among over 200 items at the lavish exhibit. NCAA has fined the University of Tennessee football program $8 Million Dollars for recruiting violations.
This year’s convention for the American Veterinary Medical Association was turned into a free clinic to care for the pets of homeless people in the Denver area. In partnership with the Street Dog Coalition and other sponsors, the event held last weekend allowed anyone to bring in an animal to receive a free health check, vaccinations, and essential supplies to take home. A spokesperson said: “People experiencing homelessness have incredibly strong bonds with their pets who provide companionship, purpose, and unconditional love. By providing free…care…we hope to help preserve, protect, and strengthen those bonds.” Research shows that social isolation is as deadly to humans as smoking 15 cigarettes a day, and a companion animal can almost entirely alleviate those effects.

Burger King in Thailand is at it again. After making a huge splash earlier in the month by introducing the “Real Cheeseburger,” a bun filled with 20 slices of cheese…and no meat, now it has done the opposite. Say hello to the “Real Meat Burger” — 3 patties on a bun, and that’s it. No pickles, onions, lettuce, ketchup, or cheese — nothing. And of course, if 3 plain patties aren’t enough, you can add as many more as you want — for a price. BK’s official Thailand social channels show variations of the new burger, with one featuring a whopping 100 patties. According to a blogger, who posted a video showing him ordering the 100-patty sammy, it cost him 10,039 baht (US$291.51). The 3-patty burger is going for about US$10. THINGS THAT PEOPLE THINK ARE THE SAME – THAT AREN’T (Pt. 11):
➢ Sunscreen & Sunblock: Sunscreen is a chemical defense that penetrates the skin to absorb UV rays, and sunblock is a physical barrier. Sunscreen has ingredients such as avobenzone and para-aminobenzoic acid... while sunblock uses zinc oxide or titanium oxide.
➢ Yeti & Bigfoot: The main difference is their location. Known as Sasquatch or Bigfoot, this mythical creature supposedly lives in the Pacific Northwest in North America. Yeti is thought to be native to the Himalayas in Asia.
