THIS WEEK'S DEAR JOHN LETTER!
Dear John,
My wife and I grew up with different backgrounds. She was raised by a pastor and has pretty strict guidelines when it comes to many things that fall in the religious category. I'm a Christian now, but I was raised in a household that did not go to church other than for funerals and weddings. We knew this when we started dating and we absolutely knew this when we were married a little over a decade ago. We now have kids and there are little things that pop up that we don't agree on. Halloween is one of these things. She was never allowed to participate in anything to do with Halloween. I grew up going door to door for candy. Our kids are now at the age where their friends are going out for Halloween and my wife wants our kids to stay home. I told her I'd like to compromise and allow the kids to go out, but have their costume something wholesome and make sure they understand that this is a “just for fun” night and has nothing to do with anything dark. She would rather not have them do anything like this and suggested we take that evening to go to a movie as a family. That way the kids would still have a fun night but we would do it our way. What do you think? Is that a bit much? How long do we make our kids do this? I'm afraid that it's going to make other kids think they're weird. I'm cool with skipping Halloween this year, but I wanted to see if you had any ideas moving forward. Thanks for your time.
Signed – Dad Of Three

If
you happened to have lost 770 pounds of high-grade marijuana, a
sheriff's office in Florida is trying to do the right thing and
reunite you with your lost possessions. "I mean, trying to
identify the rightful owner of the property is the very least we can
do, especially since it has a street value of roughly two million
dollars!!" the Brevard County Sheriff's Office posted on
Facebook. If the marijuana belongs to you, you could even get an
all-expense-paid "staycation" to reflect on how much the
lost property means to you and so that you don't get ripped off. "All
of us at one point or another in our lives have lost or misplaced
something important and are always hopeful that a good and kind
person will find our lost item and do the right thing by returning it
to its rightful owner," Sheriff Wayne Ivey said on Facebook.

Firefighters called to a California beach to conduct a cliff rescue arrived to find the reported person clinging to the rocks actually was a mannequin from a movie shoot. The Santa Barbara County Fire Department said witnesses at Hope Ranch Beach called 9-1-1 to report a woman appeared to be stranded on the side of the cliff without proper climbing gear. Firefighters arrived with trucks, drones and utility vehicles, but the would-be rescuers soon discovered the "woman" was actually "a mannequin from movie shoot days earlier," the department tweeted. The department said the witnesses did the right thing by calling 9-1-1. "Better to call than not," the tweet said. (https://bit.ly/2ZVRyKM)

A man suspected of robbing a Southern California bank was arrested when he returned to try and rob the same branch the following day. The man entered a Chase bank Monday afternoon and gave a teller a note demanding money. He fled with a “large amount of cash” before officers got to the bank. And then late Tuesday morning, police received a call about another robbery in progress at the SAME bank! Responding officers arrested the 33-year-old suspect. The man, who has prior convictions for robbery, was being held at the Orange County Jail for lack of $170,000 bail. (https://bit.ly/3lqQ2IQ)
