Psychologists at the University of Miami say the longer negative emotions linger in the human brain, the worse it is for your mental health. The study finds those holding on to negativity longer in their amygdala may impact their long-term psychological well-being. The amygdala is the almond-shaped structure on both sides of the brain’s cerebrum which evaluates stimuli and supports memory.(https://bit.ly/39bFJlA)

Spanish
police announced Friday that they seized a homemade narco-submarine
able to carry up to 2 metric tons (2.2 tons) of cargo. Police came
across the 9-meter-long (30-feet-long) craft last month while it was
being built in Málaga, on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol, during a
broader international drug operation involving five other countries
and the European Union crime agency Europol. They sit low in the
water to escape detection and rarely are able to fully submerge. The
wider police operation against the alleged international smuggling
ring netted hundreds of kilos of cocaine, hashish and marijuana in
various places in Spain, with 52 people arrested. Spanish police said
in a statement that police in Colombia, the United States, the United
Kingdom, the Netherlands and Portugal also were involved in the
operation. (http://bit.ly/3vqpWbS)

Cotton
candy was invented by a dentist. It is not known whether William
Morrison had an ulterior motive for inventing the soft confection,
but the dentist no doubt helped ensure others in his profession
continued drawing in plenty of customers. In 1897, he partnered with
candy-maker John C. Wharton to develop the cotton candy machine
(which at the time was known as "Fairy Floss"), and it's
been bringing kids cavities ever since.

NORTH KOREA
A North Korean citizen has been extradited to the United States -- a first with the isolated communist nation -- to face money laundering charges as part of a scheme to evade sanctions and provide luxury items to the rogue nation. Mun Chol Myong, 55, appeared in federal court this week in Washington D.C. While the U.S has no extradition agreement with North Korea, Mun had been detained in Malaysia since 2019. A
Jacksonville mother is facing charges of child abuse after she
allegedly fought a student at her daughter’s school while wearing a
boxing glove. 34-year-old Edith Riddle was arrested by Duval School
Board Police. A school safety officer reportedly heard a “frantic”
announcement over the school’s radio about a fight happening
outside of the cafeteria just after noon. The officer allegedly found
Riddle had been in a fight with the victim. Riddle had just exited
the school with her own daughter following a meeting with the vice
principal, and rather than exiting the campus directly, Riddle’s
daughter walked out of her way through the cafeteria to fight the
victim. Riddle’s daughter allegedly pushed the victim to the ground
and started throwing punches before Riddle joined in on punching the
victim, who was lying on the ground, witnesses said. A witness also
said Riddle had a boxing glove attached to her left hand. Riddle is
facing a charge of one count of child abuse with personal/special
weapon. (https://bit.ly/3cf4383)

Shocking
surveillance footage shows an irate phone store customer crash his
car into a Virginia Verizon shop earlier this week after workers
there refused his demands. The suspect narrowly missed employees at
the Alexandria store when he plowed his Chevy Cruz through the front
windows on Monday. A female store employee told the news station that
the man twice demanded workers disconnect his cell phone before he
flew into a rage. When the store employees told him that she couldn’t
help him, he told her he was going to run her over. She followed the
man outside, snapping photos of his vehicle. Shortly after, he
crashed his car through the front of the store in a wild,
caught-on-camera wreck that nearly injured several people inside. The
footage shows the car bursting into the store, before reversing out
and leaving the parking lot. Alexandria police told Fox 5 DC they are
investigating the incident. No arrests were immediately made.
