Researchers at Children’s Hospital Colorado say tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive component of marijuana, remains in a woman’s breast milk for at least six weeks. The revelation is creating a widespread push by health organizations to get mothers to abstain from using pot, even as more states legalize its use. (https://bit.ly/2PLkIXW)

An Amazon truck driver in Ohio was arrested on suspicion of DUI at a McDonald’s. 34-year-old Jesse Lefforge of Oakwood faces a single count of DUI, his first offense. Police responded to the restaurant after receiving a report around noon of a driver in an Amazon truck possibly intoxicated going through the drive-thru of the restaurant. Amazon is looking into the matter and all packages were delivered with no delays to customers, a spokesperson for Amazon said. The company has not provided an update on Lefforge’s status with the company. Cruiser camera footage obtained by News Center 7 showed the truck was full of packages and officers asked for Amazon to be contacted. The footage also shows Lefforge doing a field sobriety test on the sidewalk. The video showed Lefforge unable to keep his balance through most of the tests and within about ten minutes police put him in handcuffs. A bottle of Montebello also was recovered during the police department’s investigation. (https://bit.ly/3qAPHTc)

Copper door knobs are self-disinfecting. Copper and its alloys, such as brass, have long been popular materials for manufacturing door knobs. It turns out, this may not just because the metal's hue makes it look nice. In fact, the material has been found to kill bacteria. According to one study from the National College of Kathmandu in Nepal, "the metal ions denature protein of the target cells by binding to reactive groups resulting in their precipitation and inactivation. The high affinity of cellular proteins for the metallic ions results in the death of the cells due to cumulative effects of the ion within the cells." In other words, brass sterilizes the bacteria that can build up from all those (potentially unwashed) hands that grip it.

A McDonalds manager discussed a customer who recently attacked her, seemingly out of nowhere. 21-year-old Daniel Suarez-Tellez bonded out of the Broward County Jail Wednesday after Davie police said he was seen on surveillance video assaulting a restaurant employee. It happened at a Davie McDonald’s just before 11:00 p.m. Monday. According to the restaurant manager, the suspect ordered six burgers that needed to be cooked, so she told him to pull around the restaurant so she could bring out the order. That’s when she said the suspect began to attack her. “He went to arguing and yelling at me, he went to pushing the door on me as I am giving the bag to his friend,” said Sara Allen, who is the manager at the McDonalds. “I’m like, ‘Sir, why are you doing this?’ And he is like, ‘Y’all took too long with my food.’” Suarez-Tellez was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and battery. Workers at two popular restaurant chains in China have been caught on undercover video reusing leftover food scraps and handling meals with filthy hands. Man Ling restaurant, which has 1,000-plus locations throughout China and markets itself as “healthy,” issued an apology to the public after the scandalous video emerged. Staff were filmed using leftover food to cook congee – a classic Chinese rice porridge – as well as other revolting practices, the South China Morning Post reported. They were also nabbed placing their unwashed hands on the grub. One employee even pulled out pork ribs from a pot of leftover soup and used them to cook Chinese yam and meat congee for other diners. “Yeah, it’s leftover,” a Man Ling worker told the undercover reporter from Fujian Television when asked if there was any food safety issue. “It’s OK to cook again.” Man Ling, renowned for its cut-price offerings, sells more than 180 million bowls of congee each year, according to one food ordering data analysis app. (https://bit.ly/2OKAOB2)
